附录B 外文原文 The successful management of a small logistics company Abstract In this paper, a case study conducted on a small third-party logistics (3PL) company in Hong Kong is presented. This company is interesting in that it has been designated as the “king” of Hong Kongrsquo;s 3PL (in-bound) logistics companies. The company has been successful in its overall business performance and in satisfying customers. This companyrsquo;s strategic alliances with both clients and customers have helped to improve the utilization of its resources, such as warehouse space and transportation fleets. Also, the company is in the process of expanding its operations across greater China, with the objective of becoming a full-pledged 3PL company. The analysis of this case focuses on the critical success factors (strategies and technologies) that have allowed a small company started only in 1996 to become so successful in its operations. Temperature Control Using a Microcontroller Abstract This paper describes an interdisciplinary design project which was done under the authorrsquo;s supervision by a group of four senior students in the Department of Engineering Science at Trinity University. The objective of the project was to develop a temperature control system for an air-filled chamber. The system was to allow entry of a desired chamber temperature in a prescribed range and to exhibit overshoot and steady-state temperature error of less than 1 degree Kelvin in the actual chamber temperature step response. The details of the design developed by this group of students, based on a Motorola MC68HC05 family microcontroller, are described. The pedagogical value of the problem is also discussed through a description of some of the key steps in the design process.
