Medical Equipment: Leasing vs. Buying Victoria J. Sharp and Karl J. Kreder Medical equipment acquisition can be a complicated process. Deciding whether to buy or lease equipment is not as easy as deciding to buy or rent a house. Your gut instinct may not be the best way to decide either. Many of us prefer to own things— house, car, land, clothes, etc. so taking the time to carefully consider the right decision in purchasing versus renting equipment for medical practice causes one to pause. It is important to consider how quickly the technology might change and how long you plan to keep the piece of equipment. The availability of credit may be one of the biggest drivers in this decision but there are other downstream effects that also play a role. You need to make sure there is customer demand for the piece of equipment you intend to buy or lease and that there will be sufficient patient volume to profitably justify the acquisition. How to write a good business plan, includ
COVID-19 Pandemic: The Effects and Prospects in the Construction Industry Abstract COVID-19, social distancing, self-isolation, quarantine, furlough, palliatives, and many more emerged as the new vocabularies of the entire world, construction industry not excluded. It is precisely a decade from the last pandemic experienced by the human race. Transformational Leadership Moderates the Relationship Between Emotional Exhaustion and Turnover Intention Among Community Mental Health Providers Abstract Public sector mental health care providers are at high risk for burnout and emotional exhaustion which negatively affect job performance and client satisfaction with services. Few studies have examined ways to reduce these associations, but transformational leadership may have a positive effect. We examine the relationships between transformational leadership, emotional exhaustion, and turnover intention in a sample of 388 community mental health providers. Emotional exhaustion was positively related to turnover intention, and transformational leadership was negatively related to both emotional exhaustion and turnover intention. Transformational leadership moderated the relationship between emotional exhaustion and turnover intention, indicating that having a transformational leader may buffer the effects of providersrsqu

Environmental Regulation and Labor Reallocation: Evidence from the Clean Air Act W. Reed Walker December 8, 2010 Preliminary and incomplete. Abstract This paper uses newly available data on plant level regulatory status linked to the Census Longitudinal Business Database (LBD) to measure the impact of changes in county level environmental regulations on plant and sector employment levels. Estimates from a variety of specifications suggest a strong connection between changes in environmental regulatory stringency and both employment growth and levels in the affected sectors. The preferred estimates suggest that changes in county level regulatory status due to the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 reduced the size of the regulated sector by as much as 15 percent in the 10 years following the changes. Assisting the Poor in China through Tourism Development: a Review of Research Benxiang Zenga,Chris Ryanb 1. Introduction Since the 1990s, tourism as an instrument to reduce poverty has been an important research topic, particularly in developing countries. In 1999, the UK Department for International Development (DFID) introduced the term “pro-poor tourism (PPT)” to define a specific form of “tourist seeking” that contributes to poverty reduction (Ashley, Boyd, amp; Goodwin, 2000; DFID, 1999). In 2002, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (WTO) launched its report “Tourism and Poverty Alleviation” at the World Summit on Sustainable Development and announced the development of a programme of work on “Sustainable TourismEliminating Poverty (ST-EP)” (Sofield, Bauer, De Lacy, Lipman, amp; Daugherty, 2004; WTO, 2002). The purpose of this paper is to examine tourism and poverty alleviation in China by
Gathering Information for Policy Analysis Very few policy problems are truly unique. Invariably there is some information available somewhere that will assist you in some aspect of your policy analysis. Sometimes it is difficult finding relevant information; other times, especially when gathering information from searches on the World Wide Web, it is difficult to extract relevant and reliable information from among a great abundance of facts, data, theories/ claims, and policy advocacy. In dealing with some policy analysis problems, however, you will have a mandate, time, and resources to conduct field research to gather directly relevant data. Your field research may involve taking a firsthand look at some policy problem, or it may be limited to gaining expert advice about relevant theories and data sources. In this chapter we provide advice about how to begin gathering information in th
