  1. GENERAL

概括

The Contractor shall have the structural analysis of the crane performed and/or carefully and thoroughly reviewed by a qualified professional structural engineer, registered to practice structural engineering in his state of residence or country of residence. He shall be experienced in design of crane structures and shall sign each calculation sheet and structural drawing, certifying that he is responsible for the adequacy of the structural design. He shall visually inspect the completed structure and satisfy himself that the classification of members, joints, and other details required for the fatigue stress analysis is appropriate and that no attachments or fixtures of any kind other than those designed on the drawing have been attached to the structure. The responsible structural engineer shall certify in writing that he has reviewed the completed structure and that it is constructed in accordance with his design assumptions.

The criteria specified herein represent minimum acceptable standards. If, in the

Contractorrsquo;s opinion, any of the standards specified are inadequate or insufficient for the use intended, it shall be the Contractorrsquo;s responsibility to use more stringent criteria.

All structural calculations including structure finite element analysis shall be submitted for Progress Energy Services Company, LLCrsquo;s Designated Representativersquo;s review.

Structural design shall be based strictly on FEM (for shape factors, etc), and only the stability calculations, wheel loads, tie downs, loads and stowage pin loads shall be based on the results of the wind tunnel tests.

  1. CRANE STRUCTURE

起重机结构

The structure shall consist of trapezoidal box-type members for the main frame, boom, and girder structure. The boom structure shall be a dual (2) box girder type design. Tubular members will be acceptable for bracing members. Wire ropes or strands shall not be used for structural members. Horizontal structural members shall be provided on the gantry frame for the support of the Machinery House, hoists and trolley machinery (if rope type), and electrical equipment, and shall provide runway and support for the trolley including the trolley backreach.

The boom shall be supported by forestays. Forestays shall be structural shapes with link hinges. Wire rope forestays are not acceptable.

All members shall be amply proportioned to provide a rigid structure. Support members of the trolley travel system shall be cambered as per the requirements of FEM. Maximum deflections for operating conditions shall be included in the calculations submitted to Progress Energy Services Company, LLCrsquo;s Designated Representative for review. The crane design shall be such, that the maximum horizontal deflection from the waterside leg to the boom tip in any direction is less than 75mm when the Rated Load is at the maximum outreach under maximum operating wind load condition. The gantry design shall be such that the horizontal deflection from the waterside leg to the boom tip in the gantry travel direction at trolley rail level shall not exceed 200mm when the gantry is stopped by the emergency stop while traveling at rated speed with trolley at maximum outreach. Stresses at this emergency stop condition shall comply with F.E.M. The Crane design shall be such that the maximum vertical deflection between forestays and at the boom tip shall not impede trolley operations at the speeds and accelerations set forth in the Specifications under maximum operating conditions. In addition, deflections of members shall be limited to such that operations are not impaired and the Crane operational requirements are not affected. The Contractor shall submit calculations and supporting documentation which proves that the proposed deflections meet this criteria. The calculated vertical deflection and camber to be manufactured into the boom shall be submitted for review by Progress Energy Services Company, LLCrsquo;s Designated Representative.

Excessive vibrations of the crane or vibrations harmful to the crane shall be avoided. The Contractor shall submit detailed calculations that will demonstrate that the design of the trolley travel system and the gantry structure will result in a natural frequency of over 0.8 Hz in the trolley travel direction.

应避免起重机的过度振动或对起重机有害的振动。 承包商应提交详细的计算结果,以证明电车行驶系统和门架结构的设计将导致电车行驶方向的固有频率超过0.8 Hz。

All members, except where not practical and approved by Progress Energy Services Company, LLC, shall be made airtight by seal welding. Sealed members shall be pressure tested to 1.5psig using soap film to demonstrate air tightness. All airtight structures shall be designed for air test loads and calculations submitted for review by Progress Energy Services Company, LLCrsquo;s Designated
